Azoth Releases Debut LP Esoteric Passages

Solo black metal project Azoth from Port Elgin, Ontario, self-released its first LP, Esoteric Passages, on 26 June. It is a completely DIY record that orbits the themes of the occult, rituals, and death.

The project’s founder and composer, Marek Siekierski, spent half a year working on the record and simultaneously learning about production. He recorded everything himself, programming only the drums.

Initially inspired by Thantifaxath’s debut LP, Sacred White Noise (2014), the musician ended up deep within his own sound realm and imagination.

“I did want it to sound dark, and perhaps emotional at times. The imagery I associated with the mood or sound of the album was that of an old and secret death cult that performs satanic rituals. So the name kind of encapsulates the idea of these hidden rites,” Marek tells Musiknights.

Now, he keeps working on new material while pushing his production skills further. He’s also in the process of setting up his own percussion kit, which will allow him even more artistic freedom.

Azoth is a solo black metal project that multi-instrumentalist Marek Siekierski formed in 2025 in Port Elgin, Ontario.
