Chilliwack’s technical death metal act Omniesia released their second album “The Blessedness of…” on July 27. The record is a step toward a more technical and challenging, yet melodic, sound than before.
Omniesia’s new work pushed the musicians further as they were seeking the right sound, a process that brought them closer as a band. It took several months to find it. They also previously told Musiknights they discovered how “to become more technical while still staying true to classic death metal.”
The band recorded bass, guitars and vocals in their personal studio. The drums were captured separately in Edmonton with Diego Fernandez of Oracle Studios, who also mixed and mastered the whole LP.
“The album’s lyrics tell a longer story of someone who had led a life of lies and driven away everyone who once tried to help them. After receiving knowledge they tried to run from, they are enlightened and understand that they must let go of all ties holding on from their past life and move on a new, changed person,” the musicians told Musiknights.
Vocalist Tyson Lanting and bassist and vocalist Owen Lanteigne wrote most of the lyrics.
In September, Omniesia joins Vancouver melodic death metal act Atavistia for three dates on Atavistia’s Canadian tour: September 26 in Kamloops at Bridgeview, September 27 in Calgary at The Rec Room and September 28 in Edmonton at the Starlite Temple.
Omniesia is a technical death metal band that current vocalist Tyson Lanting and rhythm guitarist Charles Leake formed in Chilliwack in 2023. The musicians have known each other since high school, and began writing together years before Omniesia. Later, drummer Andrew Hadden and bassist Owen Lanteigne joined the band.
