Blackened death duo Arktheos from Toronto saw their debut LP Cosmolith reborn in physical form on August 7, when Hypaethral Records issued it on vinyl and CD a year after its digital release.
The first pressing is limited to 200 LPs on Meteorite vinyl and 200 CDs with four-panel digipaks. The reissue has sold nearly 200 copies through Hypaethral’s Bandcamp page since its release.
Cosmolith came out digitally on August 9, 2025. In the reissue announcement, D. Ibson (voice, strings, keys) describes the record as growing from a wish to take the energy and scope of extreme metal and use it to express real awe and wonder.
“It is a dense psychedelic sonic tumult that bridges death metal and black metal, built around an emotional core of ecstasy and revelation,” D. Ibson said. The songs, he adds, are “anthems to the nameless gods and spirits.”
Roland Rodas from Cavern of Echoes mastered the album. The original artwork came from Adam Burke. The label pitches the record for fans of Bölzer, Urfaust and Bolt Thrower.
Arktheos is a blackened death metal duo from Toronto, Ontario. D. Ibson (voice, strings, keys) wrote the band’s earliest material as a continuation of his previous work in melodic black metal. T. Pill (drums, synth/keys) later joined him. They released the first demo, MMXXIII, in 2023.
