Noise rock act Bat Leather released their five-track EP Dark Arts on September 4, a record built in two provinces at once.
As the press release states, Bat Leather resist comparisons, scenes, and tidy genre labels, and they write accordingly. The band of two, Cory from Calgary and Luke from Vancouver, worked on the EP remotely. Whilst Cory tracked guitar, bass and drums in Alberta, Luke worked on the vocals in British Columbia, with both credited for ‘noise’ on the record.
The EP was released via Alberta-based label Sonic Church Records digitally and on limited‑edition vinyl by No List Records.
This September the musicians will join forces to present their music live at a few shows across Western Canada:
- September 21 – Drumheller, AB – Heller Good w/ The Polite Stripes
- September 22 – Calgary, AB – Palomino Smokehouse w/ Unsane
- September 23 – Lethbridge, AB – Theoretically Brewing AA
- September 24 – Calgary, AB – Blox Arts Centre R4$ AA
