Postluven Release New Single “Abraxas” Ahead of Debut LP

Old-school thrash metal act Postluven from Montreal dropped the new song “Abraxas” on September 11. It reveals their classic violent sound, wrapped in the mysterious spirit of ancient Egypt.

Montreal audiences first heard the song live at Toscadura months before it came out — on January 31, the same day the band’s bassist and vocalist Charles Loignon finished it. According to the musician, he was going for true old-school speed and heavy metal, while keeping Postluven’s ferocity intact.

The song’s title and theme came from Charles’ sudden fascination with Egyptian mystical past.

“I went into a huge fixation on the Egyptian mythologie and the pyramids and watched a bunch of documentaries,” Charles shares with Musiknights, laughing.

Postluven worked on the track with producer Thomas Fournier. It will be included on their first studio album Valley of Mortality, coming out via CDN Records on November 25. The band will celebrate the release with a show at Piranha Bar, Montreal, opening for Scottish speed metal project Hellripper. They are also touring now, with their next shows in Guelph, London and Toronto, Ontario.

Postluven are:

  • Charles Loignon — bass, vocals
  • Mikaël Laframboise — drums
  • Alexis Majeau — guitar
  • Dylan Pasqualotto — guitar
