W.M.D. Released Their Second Album

The thrash metal act W.M.D. (When Minds Develop) presented their second full-length Against All Warnings on 5 June. It was developed with their new lineup as a now Vancouver-based band and released independently.

The nine new songs were born in the jam room, forever capturing the band’s original take. Working on the material were Skyler Mills, the band’s only original member, joined by bassist Jon Power (Mvlgrave/Heteromorphic Zoo/Over the Coals/Aggression) and drummer Ryan Idris (Aggression/Heathen/Expain).

“What you’re hearing is the exact pace, feel, and weight of what we created, while feeding off each other’s energy in the room. We wanted it to feel alive, raw, and honest. We’re proud of this record and stoked to finally share it with you,” W.M.D. say.

According to the musicians, angry at what the world really is, the new work reflects W.M.D.’s experience over the last few years. The constant human need for more is the LP’s central theme, while its title refers to ignoring every warning sign until everything starts to collapse.

Casey Trask, known for playing with such bands as Trauma, Nihilist, Cage, and others, contributed guest guitar solos on some songs from the album. The record was mixed and mastered by Adair Daufembach.

The band is currently supporting their release with a cross-Canada tour.

W.M.D. (When Minds Develop) are a thrash metal trio originating from Calgary, AB. Recently, they migrated to Vancouver, BC, re-establishing themselves with a new lineup.
